Student Standards

Disciplined service and self-disciplined living in the name of our Lord lies at the center and foundation of our standards at Vanguard. While we do not erect standards or rules as points of personal holiness, we believe they may be a means by which obedience, humility and grace may be learned. While external rules are kept to a minimum in the belief that the Holy Spirit will internalize the law of Christ in our hearts, some are necessary for the sake of uniformity, order, and harmony in the student populace. These standards are outlined in some detail in the Student Handbook which is given to each student at the beginning of the Fall (and Spring for mid-term students) Semester. A copy of the Handbook is available upon request from the Dean of Students, upon applying as a student. Any possible areas of ambiguity are clarified during Orientation sessions at the beginning of each semester.

Student Handbook

The Student Handbook contains essential information for College life. It covers and seeks to regulate practical areas such as:

  • No student shall visit or entertain a member of the opposite sex in an apartment or place of residence unless in the company of other adults.
  • Student marriages are not permitted during the school term, without consultation with and approval of the Dean of Students.
  • Classroom dress may be informal, but must be modest and in reflection of Christian character.
