History of Art Music

Music history is studied through an overview of four historical time periods:  Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century.  Attention will be given to musical style, the philosophical, social, and historical context of music in society, and the lives and music of representative composers of the day.


Course descriptions are arranged by course name within the academic discipline. The two letter prefix indicates the academic discipline. The four digit code following the two letter prefix generally speaking indicates the following; the first digit identifies the year or level the course is taken.
