Old Testament Prophets (Minor Prophets)

This course will examine the setting, content, text and structure of the books of the Minor Prophets. Attention will be given to the meaning and spiritual application of the doctrinal and moral principles revealed within each book. As well students will be introduced to the Prophetic cycle in the Old Testament. We will consider the “call” of the OT prophets as well as the purpose of prophecy to Israel. Students should be able to identify the matters of the prophetic time perspective; the conditionality of prophetic words as well as the idea of a double sense or double reference in prophetic statements.
