Strategies in Business as Mission

Course number: PS4403     Credit hours: 3 hrs

This course builds on the assumption that all serious followers of Jesus are committed to living out their faith in the marketplace. In route to understanding and engaging in business as a means of advancing the mission of God, this course traces God’s grand purposes and biblical, historical, and philosophical foundations for living out kingdom values in the marketplace and making disciples of Jesus. Integration of business strategy and missional principles are explored in their various manifestations such as tentmaking, for-profit business startups, not-for-profit organizations, and other missional enterprises. A wide variety of real-life examples will be examined and strategies developed, which will be simulated in class and can then be applied in real life. Participants will be challenged to be a part of what God is doing in the marketplace of life—making disciples of Jesus and transforming communities through business.
