Bachelor of Theology in Pastoral Care & Counselling
The Pastoral Care & Counselling degree program provides the instruction necessary to develop skills to help others who struggle with mental, emotional, and spiritual issues. It begins by developing personal awareness as well as spiritual depth and acuity in order to prepare the student to care for individuals from a firm faith foundation. The program provides for the development of pastoral counselling skills based on biblical, psychological and theoretical knowledge. Topics include biopsychology, personality, mental health disorders, classic theorists, counselling modalities, as well as specific counselling skills such as addictions, grief, trauma, crisis, and group work. Degree outcomes include additional certificates in marriage counselling and suicide intervention. Throughout the four years, the student is given opportunity to experience spiritual direction and gain practical experience through in-class practice, practicum placements, and internship.
