Bachelor of Religious Studies
(Post Degree/Diploma) CFM
You have your degree or diploma, and you feel God’s call on your life to train for ministry with children and families, but the prospect of four more years of school is a concern for you… We can help! The Bachelor of Religious Studies (CFM) degree is perfect for you. Not only does it meet all the requirements a licensed minister credential (leading to ordination) with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, but it also lets you train for ministry in half the time!
Even though you will complete your training in less time, you will still get to experience everything in the program, beginning with our annual Encounter retreat in September. You will be introduced to and taught by several children’s and family ministry professionals, and you still get to apply classroom knowledge in real ministry situations as you minister with your practicum to children all over Alberta (and sometimes beyond...). You will also have the opportunity to help plan and execute a complete spring break day camp for children in a local church.
Academically, you will gain skills and knowledge to help launch you into a career in this field. You will have the option to choose from nine program-specific courses, ranging from Foundations of Children's and Family Ministry and Teaching Methods & Theories of Learning to Child Development and Children at Risk. Your leadership and volunteer management skills are honed during your practicum and a four-month long internship. In your final year you will plan every aspect of a week-long day camp for children in a local church, then train and lead a team of other CFM students to execute your plan.
Please Note: All students entering a Post Diploma or Post Degree program willed be assessed for completion of General Studies (GS) Courses. Students showing any deficiency in the area of General Studies will be notified prior to registration as to what specific GS courses they will be required to register for in order to complete their Program of Study.
Graduates of our degree programs currently serve as children’s pastors or ministry leaders in local churches across Canada and around the world. Others serve in staff positions in daycares or out-of-school care programs. Still more have gone on to pursue further academic study. The career options are wide open for you! Where do you think God is leading you? How can we help you get there?
