Vanguard College Housing Subsidies

Vanguard is setting aside $10 000 as a Housing Subsidy for qualifying students.  This subsidy will provide eligible full-time students with up to $100 a month to use towards their rent during the school year.  Just one more way that Vanguard College is helping to keep down student debt loads.

CRITERIA FOR HOUSING SUBSIDY

Your Application will be considered only when you are enrolled for full time study at Vanguard College. Eligibility for a subsidy is based on the following criteria:

  • You must be studying on the Vanguard College campus as a full time student (12 or more credit hours per semester).
  • Students on academic probation are not eligible to receive the housing subsidy.
  • Students receiving an internal scholarship from Vanguard College are not eligible for a housing subsidy.
  • You must be moving to Edmonton from a distance greater than 50 km from the Vanguard College campus.
  • You cannot be living with your parents or be receiving free housing from other family members or friends.
  • You must submit with this application a copy of your current rental agreement.
  • You must demonstrate financial need.
  • The number of Housing Subsidies is limited. Subsidies will be awarded based on need.
  • Students are personally eligible for $50 to $100 in subsidy a month to be paid out in equal portions once per semester in the second month of both semesters of the given academic year. The payment in the second semester is contingent on students retaining their eligibility based on the listed criteria. The subsidies will be paid by the College as a cheque made payable to the student.
  • Applicants must complete and return the Application for Housing Subsidy Form by September 21, 2007.
