Student Success Centre
What Is It?
The Student Success Centre (SSC) at Vanguard exists to help every student to reach his or her full potential. We offer a number of services, all at no cost to students, that are designed to help every student achieve success.
A peer tutoring centre that operates from 3:45 – 5:45 p.m. each Monday and Wednesdays. Monday is a drop in and Wednesday is by appointment.
For those students who require it, we provide supports geared to the student’s particular needs including readers and/or scribes to help them through any learning challenges they may have in these areas in tests and assignments.
We are also pleased to consult with students to help them with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) to continue what they may have had in secondary school (i.e. if they were on an Individual Programme Plan – IPP). IEP’s are available to students with documented learning needs. Please call Vanguard for more information.
The SSC runs the College Preparation Seminar (required for all incoming students) that helps prepare students for their studies at Vanguard.
Academic Tutorial is required for those on Academic Probation but is also available to any student who would like some extra academic assistance.
Our Study Skills Workshop is a great resource to help students succeed in their studies. Whether you need help formulating an IEP, need some extra assistance with tests or assignments, or want to have a paper proofread by one of our peer tutors, let us know how we can serve you!

Allan’s ministry at Vanguard College as the missions director lets him live out his passion helping students see how big God’s world is and how big God is. Known around the College as PA (short for Professor Allan), Allan and his wife Ingrid teach, live and show the importance of relationships, hospitality and love to the SWD community. Allan’s love for people takes him down the road to his church, being involved in various ministries there. It also takes him halfway around the world leading short term missions teams. Allan spends the rest of his life doing what he loves most as a chauffeur and cheerleader for his three kids.
