Program Summary

three male studentsPart of our Youth Ministry Institute Program, the Bachelor of Social Work degree is designed to prepare students for practice in the profession of Social Work. It is to provide students with a generic framework of knowledge, values and skills to deliver social work services to various clients in social agencies, organizations, and churches. The Christian studies component provides the students with the theological knowledge and Christian leadership for the integration of spiritual values and social work ethics.

Vanguard College (Edmonton, Alberta)

Booth College (Winnipeg, Manitoba)

Booth College is an international community of the Salvation Army devoted to excellence in higher education. The College seeks to educate students for integrated lives of Christian faith, character development, service to humanity, and leadership. Student enrolled in the program will complete two years at each institution, graduating from Booth College.

The remaining two years of study will be conducted at Booth College where the student will be required to take 64 additional credits in the areas of Humanities and Social/Behavioural Sciences.

 

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Bachelor of Social Work Program must have achieved a valid high school diploma with the completion of a grade 12 English.

For Transfer to Booth College:

  • An accumulative 2.5 GPA
  • Minimum grade of C in each course
  • Minimum grade of C+ must be met in GS1102 English Composition and Literature and PS4202 Youth Issues and Problem Solving
