This course is designed to provide an in-depth look into the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fifth Edition (DSM-5; American Psychiatric Association 2013) and a variety of it’s psychiatric diagnoses including: depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, substance related disorders, personality disorders and neurodevelopment disorders. Students will learn a multidimensional conceptualization of mental health, assessment, diagnosis and treatment while examining a variety of theoretical perspectives.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Psychology (GS203)
