A Season of Growth
Vanguard College is a place we call home. Although things weren’t always easy, it’s the place where the majority of our growth took place, both in leadership and in faith. Through relationships built and lessons learned, we came out feeling equipped to fully step into our calling. As a leader, learning can never stop; Vanguard was an amazing place to learn how much we didn’t know, and to assume the posture of life-long learners.
We are so thankful for what God has done, and is doing, in our lives as we continue to discover His calling. He’s got big plans for the city of Edmonton, and we know He’s using us, Vanguard College, and so many others to make those plans a reality.
Called as a Child - Journey From Newfoundland
I moved to Edmonton in August 2006 from Newfoundland. I was so excited to continue to pursue God’s calling on my life. Ever since I was a kid, I knew God wanted me to be a Pastor. I enrolled in the music program at Vanguard College, and I started volunteering as a youth leader at North Pointe Community Church. My time at Vanguard was filled with amazing God moments, solid Biblical teaching from caring professors and a stretching time in my practicum at North Pointe. Today, I am privileged to still be serving at North Pointe as the Student Ministries Pastor.
Greg's Journey to Vanguard
Based in St. Albert, Alberta, Greg began full-time ministry with Open Doors Canada in January 2017 as Director of Communications and Western Canada Representative.
Prior to joining Open Doors, Greg served with The Voice of the Martyrs Canada for 17 years.
During that time, he reported from restricted and hostile nations in Africa, Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East and has interviewed hundreds of persecuted Christians.
Along with being interviewed on numerous television and radio programs in Canada and the U.S, Greg produces video documentaries, radio and television programs. Greg is active in sharing the message of the persecuted church in churches, college campuses, and conferences across Canada. He has also spoken in many churches around the world. Greg also released his first book “Closer to the Fire, Lessons from the Persecuted Church” in 2012.
Return to the Roots of Worship
My name is Karla Adolphe, I attended Vanguard from 99-2000 in the Music program. I am currently living in High River, AB. When I was attending Vanguard I was moved by my experiences with the choir and was inspired to begin writing songs as a tool for evangelism, which then turned into a decade of performing all over North America.
During that time I won many awards, was featured on CBC, CKUA, numerous college radios, won the prestigious NewSong song writing competition in the US and had a song featured on a CW show (Hart of Dixie). I also partnered with a world renowned worship collective called Enter The Worship Circle, where my album Chair and Mic Vol 3 became their top seller. I always had a love for worship leading, but found myself drawn to the work of evangelism through music, specifically in the Canadian Folk Music industry/community.
Where I find myself now is I am returning to the roots of worship leading, through songs of proclamation and prophecy with Enter The Worship Circle. I felt it important to inform you of this wonderful new season, as many of the seeds planted in me for worship occurred at Vanguard!
