Campus Life and Community
A vibrant life is inherent to Vanguard College’s mission to develop and mobilize Spirit-empowered leaders. Campus Life exists to provide opportunities, development, and support for your personal wholeness (physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, social). We promote a strong sense of community, uphold our biblical and community standards, and shape the spiritual tone of Vanguard College. With this in mind, life at Vanguard is filled with numerous opportunities for spiritual and personal growth throughout the academic year and beyond.
The heart of the spiritual life at Vanguard is the chapel services held Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. On a weekly basis we gather as a community to engage in corporate worship and the Word.
RESET and Spiritual Enrichment Days
Each semester, several days are set aside for students to experience spiritual refreshment in the midst of their studies. These services are designed to encourage the community to integrate Biblical knowledge into their hearts and lives.
The prayer room is open Mon-Fri for students to go and pray. Each morning students and staff are welcome to come together. It is open 1 hour before the first class for early morning prayer.
All students participate in a time of community and small group discipleship (weekly or bi-weekly) led by upper year students and staff members.
Each program has an annual fall retreat within the first couple weeks of the school year. This time is set aside to build community and connection, with God and others in the program.
Gym Drop-in: Students are welcome to organize activities like Floor Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, and exercise classes in our gym.
Sports Teams: Throughout the year there are various opportunities for students to participate in community league team sports organized through Campus Life. (e.g soccer, basketball, volleyball)
Vanguard’s Student Council is an integral part of College life and plays a role in furthering the mission of the college to Develop and Mobilize Spirit-Empowered Leaders. The Council serves the student body in three key areas: Community, Spiritual Tone and Advocacy.
Students who encounter difficulties in their spiritual life, academic load, social relationships, etc., are reminded that the Campus Life Team are available to counsel and provide guidance to students.
In the event that a student requires professional counselling from a registered psychologist or counsellor, Vanguard College may assist with referrals and finances through the Campus Pastor's offices.
